The Squarespace Kin template is a member of the Brine template family. A template that is a clone or variant of the original template will give you the same features and options as the original template but can help you more quickly achieve the look or functionality you are envisioning based on differences in the foundational look and layout.

The Kin template mixes different image styles, overlays, and text. Content is presented on long, scrolling pages that provide clean typography and ample whitespace. The Kin offers a chronological timeline which makes it ideal for storytelling, a year-in-review, or the display of product histories detailing the journey from the time a product was barely a thought to months or years down the road after public presentation.

Some of the benefits of the Kin template are its parallax scrolling, three separate navigation areas, and customizable mobile styles. As part of the Brine family, the Kin template supports special, customizable Share buttons for Blog and Products Pages. You can also duplicate pages or blog posts once you design a layout you like. This comes in handy if you’ve taken advantage of the Kin template’s ability to create multi-column layouts.

Another advantage of the Kin template is the Ajax loading. That is a special site loading method that doesn’t reload the whole page but, instead, only retrieves server data for specific elements of the page. This allows content-heavy pages to load much more quickly than they would otherwise.
